The United States and South Africa last week reached an agreement under which South Africa will roll back its blanket ban on U.S. poultry due to avian influenza. But South Africa has yet to resolve four other barriers to meat trade that the U.S. has indicated must be addressed before President Obama will withdraw his threat to suspend duty-free treatment of South African agricultural products under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
