On the sidelines of a Dec. 9 House Foreign Affairs trade subcommittee hearing, Commerce Department Acting Assistant Secretary for Export Administration Matthew Borman said that the Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee (ETRAC) last month delivered to the Commerce Department a draft methodology for creating a list of technologies subject to deemed export controls.

President Obama on Wednesday (Dec. 2) nominated David Mills to be the next assistant secretary of Commerce for export enforcement. If confirmed, Mills will head the Bureau of Industry and Security, which administers the Export Administration Regulations that implements the export controls on dual-use goods.
