Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) late last night (Feb. 5) objected to the inclusion of an amendment to expand and reauthorize the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program into the economic stimulus bill without a plan in place for congressional consideration of the controversial U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement.

House and Senate negotiators have reached a final compromise deal in the last 24 hours on revising and expanding the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program, sources said today (Feb. 5). The compromise will be filed as an amendment to the economic stimulus package in the Senate, these sources said.
