The House today (July 14) passed the implementing bill for the U.S.-Australia free trade agreement, as widely expected. The bill passed by a 314-109 vote (aus-vote) after approximately two hours of debate.
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas (R-CA) plans to hold a markup next week of a fast-track bill developed with three members of the Democratic caucus, amid protests from other Democrats such as Rep. Bob Matsui (D-CA).
