Congressional Democrats are making clear that they want the Senate to immediately take up a standalone bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank that the House passed Tuesday (Oct. 27) rather than waiting to renew the bank through a pending long-term highway authorization bill, while the main House Republican champion of the bill signaled he is open to both options.

Second Update: The House of Representatives on Tuesday night (Oct. 27) passed 313-118 a standalone bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank through 2019, with a majority of the House Republican conference voting in favor of renewing the controversial export credit agency reviled by some conservatives.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on standalone legislation to renew the Export-Import Bank at roughly 4:45-5:15 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 27), following a vote at about 1:30-1:45 p.m on the rule governing debate on the legislation. Those times are subject to change.

The House on Monday evening (Oct. 26) voted to open floor debate on a standalone bill that would reauthorize the Export-Import Bank through 2019 and reduce its financing limit to $135 million from $140 million, before adjourning for the night and thereby delaying further consideration of the bill until Tuesday.
