In a new sign that there are concrete plans to hold the first U.S.-India Trade Policy Forum (TPF) since 2010, Indian and U.S. trade officials this week met to hash out the dates and agenda items for such a forum, according to a Sept. 17 press release from the Indian Commerce Ministry.

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Michael Punke on Monday (Sept. 15) publicly announced for the first time that the United States since July has been willing to offer India a clarification on the length of a food security peace clause agreed to by World Trade Organization ministers last December in Bali, if India agrees to drop its opposition to implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).

India has dropped a proposal to implement new antidumping (AD) duties against imports solar energy products from the United States, China and elsewhere amid an internal government split over the measures and warnings from the Obama administration that the step could risk breaching international trade rules and Indian domestic law.
