The Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday (June 16) voted to confirm Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) as undersecretary of state for arms control and international security. It did so by voice vote with no objections, said Committee Spokesman Frederick Jones.

President Barack Obama's nominee for undersecretary of state for arms control and nonproliferation, Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA), this week said she would consider easing export controls on commercial communication satellites by moving them from State Department control to the Commerce Control List (CCL), provided this would be consistent with U.S. “foreign policy and national security objectives.”
