CHICAGO, IL – Negotiators in this round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks have produced a consolidated text on sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures that includes a revised U.S. proposal for commitments on transparency and science-based risk assessments that go beyond World Trade Organization rules, according to a senior U.S. negotiator.

CHICAGO, IL – Negotiators for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement need to overcome their differences in traditional negotiating areas such as market access but also with respect to new areas such as state owned enterprises as they seek to develop the broad outlines of a deal for November, a senior U.S. negotiator said in a teleconference today (Sept. 11).

CHICAGO, IL -- The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative will not table its proposed chapter on labor rights at the eighth round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks occurring this week because the proposal has not been fully vetted with Congress and has not yet cleared an inter-agency review process, sources said.

Peruvian officials are expected to attend the eighth round of negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) kicking off today (Sept. 8) in Chicago but are not expected to participate very actively because the new government of President Ollanta Humala has not yet formed its trade policy, according to informed sources.
