Countries negotiating a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement have agreed to grant some measure of flexibility to Vietnam and Brunei, in that those countries will not have to submit goods market access offers that are as detailed as those submitted by the rest of the TPP participants by the middle of this month, sources said.

The U.S. and Japan plan to discuss Japan's interest in joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations as part of their overall bilateral talks taking place this week under the auspices of the U.S.-Japan Trade Forum, according to Japanese officials. That forum will be held Jan. 13-14 in Washington.

In a Nov. 15 press conference, New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said it was a "far-fetched" idea that a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement would contain an investor-state dispute settlement mechanism, according to a video of that New Zealand press conference posted on the prime minister's website.
