The United States and European Union on July 18 in an exchange of letters and an attached statement outlined a new forum for financial services regulatory cooperation to replace the Financial Markets Regulatory Dialogue, fueling speculation that the EU is backing down from its demand that financial services regulatory cooperation be included in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
